The Set Books Free Project
The Set Books Free Project is a pipeline carrying banned and diverse books from indie booksellers and our customers to areas of the country where books are being banned. We are proud to be one of over 50 bookstores the American Booksellers Association stores has partnered with connecting six organizations serving 11 states (for now).
The goal of this project is to help create a disincentive to banning books by making books that have been banned or deal with often-banned subject matter pop up wherever book bans run rampant. In another sense, the goal is to organize a direct action by private institutions (bookstores like us) that may not have the same vulnerabilities to funding pressure as public institutions. The program is organized by the American Booksellers Association’s free expression initiative, American Booksellers for Free Expression.
All books purchased from this collection will be sent directly to an area within the US that needs it the most.
